Sugary Drinks and Your Oral Health
Many popular drinks have sugar and acid in them:
How often you drink them matters to your teeth and smile. Sugar, acid, and artificial sweeteners can make your teeth sensitive and weak. Check out the tips below to maintain a healthy smile:
- Drink only water between meals
- Carbonation raises every drink’s acidity, so any bubbly beverage is likely to be harmful to your teeth over time
- Rinse your mouth out with water after drinking a sugary drink
- In addition to cavities, drinking lots of soda is linked to diabetes and obesity
- Water is always the best choice – it has no sugar, acids, or caffeine
- Brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits can reduce tooth decay
